About

The Federal – modern Malaya’s first international-class hotel – was built in the months preceding the nation’s declaration of Independence from British colonial rule, opening for business just three days before Independence Day, 31 August 1957. Its timely opening ensured that the foreign dignitaries arriving for the celebrations would enjoy luxurious accommodations that were in keeping with their status.

Since that historic beginning, the hotel has played host to royalty, world leaders and foreign dignitaries celebrities and discerning individuals from all over the world. Today, the hotel is a Kuala Lumpur landmark, the gateway to the city’s Golden Triangle, and the byword for warm Malaysian hospitality and fine dining.

The hotel is located in the heart of the city’s CBD with a fascinating variety of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities within walking distance. These include the adjacent bbpark, an open-air bazaar with excellent dining and shopping options, and Plaza Low Yat, KL’s IT speciality centre.
